Flooding, YAY!!! NOT!!!

We had a pretty bad snow storm 2 days be fore Christmas and a good majority of the townhomes/houses in our area have flooding issues. Well we hadn't ever experienced "weather" flooding. Only just Mathew leaving the hose in the window well while we left the house for over 10 hrs. ;)  Anyway, we were doing stuff all day (I might have gone to work) and when we finally sat down to relax before bed, we noticed wet spots in various but random spots on the carpet that was wet or damp. So I walked over to 1 of the 2 window wells in the basement and noticed about 2-3 inches of standing water above the tree bark filler whatever you call it and the carpet below the window well was SOAKED! So, I called my father..the landlord ;) to inform him of the water, checked the furnace room and there was water in there, vacuumed (with a wet vac) the water out of the window well, til I started sucking up tree bark and gravel. My father came over the next morning and we lifted up the carpet and noticed that ALL of our "Spill guard carpet pad" was SOAKED so we lifted all that up too and had to use my carpet cleaner to soak up the water out of the pad so we could lift it out of the house. otherwise, its super heavy. Anyway once we got the carpet and pad up, we noticed cracks in the ground starting in the furnace room and going out into the family room and all over from there.

We took the carpet out to the garage and laid it all out and put the pad out in the garage too. Anyway, there is currently a litigation going on about the flooding issues in these homes so a guy came to look at the damage and the cracks and he had a tool, and was banging around down stairs and from his banging, he discovered that a big area in our basement is hollow and the rest is solid.. he then said "i wonder how deep this hole is?!" oh, awesome (as my chair sits right on top of this hollow area). Anyway, since this big flood, we have only had minimal leaking just a couple days after this big one and so far nothing since... anyway, here are some pics:

 Water in the furnace room

 wet carpet
I didnt get a pic of the cracked ground before we set the basement back up, pad and carpet-less :( its freezing cold down there and since our bed was in that corner at the top of  this pic, we moved our bed and MaKaylie back into the master room and Austin went back to his old room (MaKaylie was originally going to have her own room) so a couple weeks later, we moved upstairs and this is what it looks like now:

all fits perfectly :) I must admit it is really different having MaKaylie in here. I havent had a baby share my room with me, past 6 months and she just turned 7 months.

Well, now my husband has hounded me enough about going to bed, so I guess I'm off to bed so he will stop nagging ;)

Of course, I cannot forget my Angel!

In all this blogging, I didn't get a chance to do a post about our Angel Baby, Caden. Since he isn't here on earth with us and isn't hitting milestones all I can really say is we wish he was. It has been 20 months since we buried him. The boys ask me questions about him every so often. like does he need shoes, No kids, he doesnt need shoes, and when will he come see us, He is with us whenever we need him we just cant see him, and all sorts of questions.

I did end up totally redoing my very first post about Caden, "June 2009, (From the beginning)" in the blog Archive. It is the entire story of what happened with Caden if your curious.

Here are a few pictures of the memories we have:

Mold's of Caden's hands and feet.
 Christmas 2010
His Christmas tree.

The additions they've made to the Baby Land. before, the Angel statue was just on the grass, now they've got the brick section with the 2 beautiful benches.

The Snowmen Wreath was made by Great Grandma Johansen. Thanks Grandma. One of Caden's friends family, left a snowman on a stick. This friend's family also left one on every one of the babies headstones or plots (if there was no headstone laid due to weather).

Blog

Ok. I'm really bad at remembering to Blog. So tonight, I did 6 posts plus this one. So be sure and look at them all, if you have the time. Sorry if I ramble in any of them. I'm tired. pics included with all but this one and the sprained ankle one.

ENJOY!! :)

MaKaylie is 7 months old

Little Miss MaKaylie turned 7 months old on 2/15. The first week of Feb, she had her 6 mo check up (late) and she weighed 13lbs 9 oz, 26' long. I mentioned to the dr that she cant eat more than 4 oz of formula at a time and is demanding it every 2 hrs because if I give her more, she spits up anything beyond the 4 oz, he looked a little concerned and went on a search for some formula.. he walked back in with 3 small cans of Enfamil A. R. and said it'll take prob all these cans before you notice a change in her if its going to help. Well, lets just say, in 1  feeding, just 1, I noticed a HUGE difference, she didn't spit up anything. Next, I gave her 6 oz, she kept it all down. I was shocked she was doing so well. I then went on a hunt for Similac Sensitive for spit up in the powder form and the shelves were empty and all they had was a small liquid bottle. So after visiting the 3rd empty shelved store and 3 different stores I asked whats the deal and they said Similac has run out of the powder form and is only sending the liquid.. I was like are you kidding me? I am on WIC so they provide any kind of Similac without any questions. I bought the liquid and it did not work as well as the Enfamil. So I will be getting a prescription from my dr for the Enfamil A.R. (added rice starch) as for now, she is back on the regular similac because WIC cant get me in til the first week of Mar.

Here are some pictures taken of her in the cpl weeks to month ago.

Sprained Ankle

On Wednesday 2/16/2011, Eric was playing basketball with his students at school and went to rebound and a kid got under him and when Eric landed, he landed on the foot of one of his students. Thankfully, the student was not hurt but Eric, however, was and its pretty bad. he could barely walk and he somehow managed to walk down a flight of stairs, and managed to drive himself home. When he got home, I soon discovered it was his RIGHT foot and not his left. We spent the night in our bedroom with his foot elevated and then at about 7 or 8pm, the power went out til sometime after midnight we were all, all 6 of us, on mine and Eric's bed til it was bedtime for the boys. The next morning, Eric got up and started calling orthopedic doctors and got an appt. later that afternoon. We saw Dr Weenig in Provo and the doctor said his sprain was so bad, he was surprised that it was not Broke. Eric got a walking boot (which has helped him a TON) and... a Temporary Handicap Car pass This pass was the highlight of his day. Eric has to wear the boot for 2 weeks, then has a brace for another 2 weeks and then another checkup with the dr. just a day before our trip to St George for softball tournaments and of course the pass is valid for 1 month. He has a pretty nice bruise on his foot its all pretty and purple. I should take a picture and post it in here of him and his walking boot and the bruise.

SAHM!!! :)

On January 23, 2011 Eric said I could quit my job of 7 years and 8 months and attempt to be a Stay at home mom. We will see how long we can survive without my income. We got our tax refund the following Friday without this, me quitting would not have been an option.  The first week I was home, I did like 7 loads of laundry, quite possibly, maybe more loads than that. I cleaned, I cooked and then relaxed over the weekend the next week, I cleaned the middle level on Monday and then I was in bed all day Tuesday (I was pretty sick :( and then last week I decided to trade chores with Eric. Our entire marriage, Eric has done the dishes and I was supposed to be doing the laundry I slacked often with this chore. More often than not, Eric was folding and putting the clothes away. So I told him I want a change.. I HATE Laundry and I HATE dishes but now I'm sitting here thinking.. what in the world was I thinking.. dishes are soo much faster and I can keep up with them and it isnt a 4 part process.. just 2, load and unload. So I'm keeping this chore :)

Lady Antebellum Concert with my Sis!

Sooo, since my sister and I went to Tim McGraw back in July and Lady A opened for him, and we were stuck in HORRIBLE Concert traffic and we missed Lady A entirely, Jeanie and I discussed right after that her and I would go to Lady A if they ever came back to SLC again. Well, it just so happened that Lady A and David Nail were coming to SLC on 11/2/2010 @ the Rail Event Center (all standing) so Jeanie and I bought our tickets and I couldn't wait to go to this concert. I took the day off work and Jeanie picked me up and we grabbed some dinner @ some fast food place by the Rail center and we ate on the way. We parked and walked in and was pretty close to the front of the stage (not super close but at a decent spot). Anyway, we met a couple people and we chatted until the concert started. It also turned out that a group of the Johansen's were coming too... Ken, Jan, Kathy, Kandyce, Shanna and a friend Dana. Unfortunately, they took too long to get there so we werent together but we met up with my father and Jan on our way out. Anyway, here are a couple pictures from the concert. They're not the greatest as they were taken with my Blackberry phone.

Jeanie before the concert being funny.
 Making funny faces.
David Nail opened for them. He's not too bad of a singer. not Awesome but not bad.

 Lady A's Pink Piano!! :)

Johansen family pictures.

On Nov 28, we went to do family pictures with my Johansen family. We went to a private property in Santaquin. My step mother Jan's father grew up as a kid in this house.
From left to right it goes Jordan, Carlie, Caitlyn (triplets), Justin, Jan and Ken (peeking in the window) Jaxon, Austin, Mathew, Josh, Tina, MaKaylie (she blends in with me) and Eric.  We had fun doing this but it was freezing cold as there was a light storm on this day. Afterwards, we went back to my father and Jan's house with all of Jan's sisters and their families, her father and his wife ( not sure of her name) and we had soup. it was very yummy.

This is the picture we picked to hand out as our 2010 family picture.

No one told us that MaKaylie totally blended in with me. O well. They still turned out way cute.
